Nigerian music star, Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia, has
criticised the federal government for not paying the
allowances and bonuses of the African
championship-winning Super Falcons.
The senior female national team on Wednesday
protested on the streets of Abuja, the federal
capital territory, and besieged the national
assembly to demand for their money.
2face Idibia, in an Instagram post, said someone
deserves to be fired for the letdown and described
the treatment of the players as a “heartless,
disgraceful act”.
He wrote:
The Super Falcons of Nigeria won the Africa female
championship for a record eighth time.
The aggrieved players, who defeated hosts
Cameroon, have vowed not to hand over the trophy
to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) until they
are paid.
“African champions deserve better. Pay your
sports heroes,” 2face added.
The Super Falcons are being owed a total of
$819,000 by the NFF.
“Some people have been collecting
outrageous salaries and allowances 4
doing nothing meanwhile this
patriotic Nigerian girls have done us
proud over and over and over and
someone or some people feel say na
their mouth money sweet pass or
needs their money more than them.
“Shame on all tiers of government
that have turned a blind eye on this
issue. Somebody/some people need to
be fired because [sic] of this heartless
disgraceful act.”
